End of May Status Update

May 27, 2018 | Progress | 5 comments

I was actually planning to keep my progress secret, so as not to stir up hopes. Thing is, getting a first draft of a novel done is usually only part of the progress. Also, life events have been greatly slowing my progress in general.

But, since you asked…

Ushabti Online: approx 25k words into the first draft.

C&D2: Approx 6k words into the first draft.

That’s right, I am working on the sequel to The City and the Dungeon right now. It’s just that, due to various logistical constraints I can’t go into, I can only work on it part time with Ushabti Online. Again, I initially planned to just say nothing until something was complete, but I realized that wasn’t quite fair. So here it is.

That all said, I can’t guarantee any particular release date, especially one within this year. Things in my personal life just haven’t agreed.

  1. There’s no rush! I’d rather have a good book than a fast book. I hope that your personal life smooths out though, that’s never fun.
    Have a great day!

  2. Take your time. Friends and family always need to come first, and trying to force yourself to finish a project when you’re distracted doesn’t usually end well. Oh, and don’t make promises about dates because you feel pressured into it. Real fans wait patiently until you’re satisfied with your work.

  4. So glad to hear you are working on a sequel, I finished The City and the Dungeon yesterday and really enjoyed myself. We were discussing your book a little over on our LitRPG discord. Do you have a Twitter account by the by?

    • I don’t have a twitter account, sorry. I’m pretty light on the social media for an author.

This is probably a good time to post another status update!

Matthew P. Schmidt My BlogYes, I have been radio-silent for a time (albeit that I use a wired connection.) Part of this is because the main project I was working on I temporarily shelved for REASONS. But last night, I finished the draft of The City and the Dungeon....
